Tap Check Physical Mail on the home screen, then take a clear photo of the letter or envelope. MailShield reads all the text using OCR and gives you a SAFE / SUSPICIOUS / DANGER result with a plain-English explanation.

Tap Check a Text Message or Check an Email, paste the content, and tap Analyze. You'll get a risk rating and explanation within a few seconds.

Enter a phone number and any context (e.g., "they said I owe back taxes"), then tap Check. The app uses Claude AI and our community database to assess the risk level.

Tap Check a QR Code and point your camera at any QR code — on mail, a sign, a receipt, or a screen. MailShield extracts and analyzes the URL hidden inside the code before your browser ever loads it, protecting you from quishing (QR phishing) attacks.

• SAFE — Low risk. Likely legitimate. No action needed.
• SUSPICIOUS — Proceed with caution. Verify before clicking links or sharing information.
• DANGER — High risk. This is likely a scam. Do not respond, click, or pay.

When a scan returns a DANGER result, MailShield shows one-tap emergency contact buttons for the FTC (Federal Trade Commission), FBI IC3 (Internet Crime Complaint Center), AARP Fraud Watch Network, and the CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau). Tapping any button connects you directly to that agency so you can report the scam or get help immediately. These appear automatically on high-risk results — no setup required.

iOS: Go to Settings → Phone → Call Blocking & Identification → enable MailShield Guardian. This is a one-time setup.

Android: On first launch, grant MailShield the Call Screening role when prompted. Known scammers are then blocked at the OS level before your phone rings.

Yes. On both iOS and Android, when a known scammer is blocked, they cannot connect to your carrier voicemail either. The call is rejected silently before it connects. On iOS, blocked callers hear "number not available." On Android, they receive a busy signal.

Auto-Protect runs silently in the background and screens threats before you see them. On iOS, the SMS Filter screens texts from unknown senders automatically, and the Share Extension lets you analyze emails directly from Apple Mail. On Android, incoming calls are screened before your phone rings, and SMS messages are scanned automatically. Auto-Protect catches scams before you open them — no action required from you.

Go to Auto-Protect in the app and tap Email Monitoring. For Gmail, tap Connect and sign in with Google — access is read-only and we never see your password or store your emails. For Outlook/Microsoft 365, tap Outlook and sign in with Microsoft. Tap Scan Inbox Now to check recent emails for phishing at any time. Gmail and Outlook monitoring require a Pro subscription.

The Scam Radar is a live map showing anonymized scam activity near you. Dots on the map represent verified scam reports submitted by MailShield users in your area — color-coded by threat level (red = high, orange = suspicious, green = safe). Tap any dot to see the scam type and brief description. Use My Area to zoom to your local ZIP area instantly. No GPS is used — the map is powered by user-provided ZIP codes only.

BlockBrief is MailShield's community scam report feed. Users submit verified scam reports that appear in the feed for others in their area to read, react to, comment on, and like. You can search by keyword or filter by scam type (IRS, Bank, Package, Romance, etc.). Reading the feed is free. Submitting reports, commenting, and reacting are also free for all users.

At the top of the Community Feed, tap the search bar to search by keyword (e.g., "Medicare," "gift card," "IRS"). Below the search bar, tap any category chip to filter by scam type — IRS, Bank Fraud, Package, Romance, Crypto, Tech Support, and more. Filters and search can be combined. Tap the X or "All" chip to clear filters.

On any community report, you can:

• Like — tap the ❤ to upvote a helpful report
• React — choose from 😰 Helpful, 😱 Scary, 🙋 Happened to Me, or 📢 Spreading to give more specific feedback
• Comment — add a comment (up to 280 characters) to share additional context or your own experience

All interactions are anonymous — no names are ever shown.

Tap the flag icon on any community report to flag it as inappropriate. After 3 flags from different users, the report is automatically hidden from the public feed pending review by our moderation team. You can also email us at support@glippintoys.com with any concerns about specific content.

The Confession Booth lets you anonymously share a scam you almost fell for — a "near miss." These posts help others recognize the same scam before it's too late. Posts are limited to 280 characters, are completely anonymous (no name, no email), and are visible only to other MailShield users in your local ZIP area.

Yes. Your name is never shown. Posts are stored with only your anonymous user ID — which is never exposed publicly. We do not store a mapping between posts and any personal identity. Do not include your own name, phone number, or email address in your post — our system attempts to detect and redact personal information, but the best practice is not to include it.

The Fraud Resilience Score is a number from 0 to 850 — similar to a credit score, but measuring your fraud awareness and community engagement. It's calculated from:

• Scans run (mail, texts, calls, emails, QR, payments)
• Community scam reports submitted
• Confession Booth posts
• Comments contributed
• Reactions given
• Feedback accuracy (marking scans correctly)

A higher score means you're actively protecting yourself and your community. The score is private to you and never shared.

Community Defender Badges are awards earned for active participation in scam protection. Examples include:

• 📬 Mail Guardian — 10 mail scans completed
• 🔍 Scam Hunter — 50 total scans
• 📢 Community Reporter — first community report submitted
• 💬 Near-Miss Confessor — first Confession Booth post

Badges are shown on your Profile screen. New badges are awarded automatically as you reach milestones.

The Profile screen shows your personal fraud protection stats: your Fraud Resilience Score, all earned badges, your community reports, and a breakdown of your scanning activity. Access it by tapping the 👤 icon in the top right of the Community Feed. Your profile is private — it is never visible to other users.

The Weekly Area Digest is an optional push notification sent once a week summarizing scam activity near your ZIP code. It tells you the top scam types reported in your area that week, so you know what to watch out for even if you haven't opened the app. You can enable or disable it in the app's Notification Preferences.

Go to the app's Settings → Notification Preferences and toggle off Weekly Area Digest. You can also manage all app notifications in your device Settings → Notifications → MailShield Guardian.

iOS: Open the App Store → tap your profile photo → Subscriptions → MailShield Guardian → Cancel.

Android: Open Google Play → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → MailShield Guardian → Cancel.

No. When you connect Gmail or Outlook, we access your emails in read-only mode to analyze them. The raw email content is never stored on our servers — only the scan result (risk level, category, and reasoning) is saved. We never modify, send, or delete your emails.

No. MailShield never requests or uses GPS or precise device location. For community features (Scam Radar and Weekly Area Digest), we use only a ZIP code that you enter yourself. Your ZIP code is stored in your account and is not linked to any street address or coordinates.

Email us at support@glippintoys.com and request account deletion. We will delete all data associated with your anonymous account, including scan history, community posts, confessions, comments, reactions, and gamification data. Community posts you submitted will also be removed from the public feed.
